Aline Xavier is a multidisciplinary artist often developing research based projects. Her pieces result from her immersion in different cultural contexts, mostly in territories of the Global South. In her practice, she activates networks of people and places, addressing natural, social and political aspects of our times.
She has received recognition through awards such as the Videobrasil Art Prize and the Prêmio FOCO ArtRio. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Inhotim, Museu da Pampulha, Centro Cultural São Paulo (CCSP), Württembergischer Kunstverein (WKV), Berlinale Talents, Zeitz MOCAA, Kunsthal Kade, among others. She has also taken part in international residency programs, most notably at Akademie Schloss Solitude and the Cité internationale des arts (In Situ Residency Program 2023–24).
Aline studied Contemporary Art: Curatorship and Criticism under the guidance of Jochen Volz at the Inhotim Art Center and PUCMG (Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, Brazil), and holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Communications and Cinema, supervised by Professor Dr. Patricia Moran at UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil).
