Martins&Montero presents a group project featuring works by Ana Mazzei, Hudinilson Jr. and Lia D Castro.
Ana Mazzei (São Paulo, Brazil, 1979) combines organic and figurative forms with a precise geometric sensibility, in works that often nod to the constructive legacy of Brazil’s late modernist movements, especially of the Concretist and Neo-Concretist avant-gardes.
Hudinilson Jr. (São Paulo, Brazil, 1957–2013) was one of the most important Brazilian artists of his generation, influencing the artistic scene through his personal work and his role as a catalyzing figure in artist groups and experimental exhibitions. Across various media, he explored bodies in constant negotiation — between material and image, desire and absence, autonomy and social constraint.
Lia D Castro’s (Martinópolis, Brazil, 1978) work is a powerful exploration of social and political issues through art, emphasizing the importance of representation, healing, and inclusivity. She is committed to using her art to educate audiences on topics such as antiracism and anti-transphobia in various institutions.
The project will feature Ana Mazzei’s recent sculptures in which she chooses bronze as the protagonist, marking the first time she has worked with the material on a larger scale, in dialogue with multiple pieces by Hudinilson Jr. and paintings by Lia D Castro.
